This lovely gem 1903 Jefferson Gold Dollar is a commemorative issued for the Lousiana Purchase Exposition, aka the St. Louis World's Fair.  This event actuallly occured from April 30 to December 1, 1904 so 1903? Go figure.  Nevertheless a lovely example representing the 100 year anniversary of when the US bought a whole bunch of land from France.  Who would have thought a century after the Louisiana Purchase it would result in minting beautiful commems eh?  Especially this one, rich gold, original, lusterful surfaces.  Mmmm........
